World Social Work Day 2023

World Social Work Day, celebrated around the world on Tuesday, the third week of March of every year and this year’s theme, ‘Ubuntu: Strengthening Social Solidarity and Global Connectedness’ focuses on social work perspective of the interconnectedness of all peoples and their environments and the need of solidarity at all levels. For the first time, Medical Social Work Department (MSW) of Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre held a World Social Work Day event with the aim of introducing social work to the staffs and public and initiate fundraising for the Medical Social Fund (MSF).

Present to officiate the event was Dr Meera Sahib Kabeer, Medical Director of PJSC. The event was attended by PJSC staffs and MSW patients and families as well as invited vendors. The event will be ongoing from today until tomorrow, Wednesday 17th March 2021 from 8.30 am until 4 pm. Portion of the sales will be donated to the Medical Social Fund (MSF). The funds will be utilized to provide patients with daily essentials and other necessary items that give temporary assistance. Public are welcomed to support our vendors and donate to the Medical Social Fund (MSF) via BIBD Online.

World Social Work Day 2022

On 15th March, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) joined many other countries around the world in commemorating World Social Work Day. World Social Work Day is celebrated globally across the world on the third Tuesday of March. The annual commemoration aims to highlight to the global community that social work’s professions have put many contributions and part of on-going dialogue with partners as to how various social challenges can be responded to. The World Social Work Day Commemoration Event was held internally in a small event attended by Senior Management Team of PJSC, staff of PJSC and vendors. Present to officiate the event was Dr Kabeer Meera Saheeb, Medical Director of PJSC. “Today marks another year to remember this special day.

The theme for this year is Co-Building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind. It emphasizes on ecological perspectives of the ever-changing relationship between all parts of our society and how each one of us has an important role to play in keeping the system healthy and stable.” said Siti Fairuz Abd Latiff, Head of Medical Social Work Department of PJSC in her opening remark.The event also saw the official launching of PJSC Medical Social Fund (MSF) by Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin Bin Haji Awg Besar, Executive Director of PJSC. The fund was created to provide aid to the underprivileged patients of PJSC who are facing economic difficulties. The event concluded with exhibition tour and vendor tour. The World Social Work Day 2022 Working Committee thank stakeholders, vendors and patients who have been involved in making the event successful.
