Neurosurgery Department under the Brunei Neuroscience Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC) of Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) is proud to host its first Spine Symposium recently in conjunction with World Spine Day, at PJSC Lecture Theatre. Present as the guest of honor is Dr Ang Swee Hui, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health.

The symposium is divided into 3 sessions where the first session covers topics on Assessment of Back Pain by Dr Sunil Upadhyaya and Imaging in Back Pain by Dr Arun Gupta while on the second session we have Degenerative Disc Disease with Lumbar Canal Stenosis by Dr John Mathew, Lumbar Disc Herniation: Role of Conservative Therapy and Injections by Dr Dawn Antony and Management of Osteoporotic Pain by Dr Vineesh Varghese. The third session is covers the Role of Surgery in Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease by Dr Ady Thien, Role of Rehabilitation in Back Pain, Sciatica by Dr Abang Muhammad Fahmy and Exploring Exercise in Non-specific Low Back Pain by Mr Murugavel Manivasagam.

Over the last five years, Neurosurgery Department has reached the centre for excellence in spine care with the state-of-the-art facility in terms of patient care and outcome. In the era of advanced technologies and surgeon strive for better outcome, Neurosurgery Department has adopted Minimally Invasive Spine services and Navigation Assisted Surgeries in PJSC over the duration of three years and it has dramatically changed the face of patient satisfaction and outcome.
