The Neurosurgery Department of Brunei Neuroscience Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC), Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) was officiating its Scoliosis Week 2024 at the Lecture Theatre, RF Floor of the PJSC building in Jerudong on 22nd January 2024.
With a focus on fostering awareness and understanding of scoliosis in the Brunei community and continuous education among clinical practitioners, PJSC is commemorating Scoliosis Week 2024 with a unique convergence of medical education and patient engagement with a Scoliosis Workshop and Live Surgery Programme for doctors and an appreciation day for scoliosis patients.
Launching the event as the guest of honour is Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, PJSC. Also present was Dr Hj Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar, Executive Director, PJSC. As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to observe an anatomical specimen workshop and understand the equipment and skill behind scoliosis surgeries.
Highlights during this week-long commemoration includes:
- Live-Surgery Workshop: PJSC is set to achieve a historic milestone with its very first live-surgery workshop where participants will be able to learn and interact with consultant surgeons from PJSC’s Hybrid Operating Theatre providing a unique educational experience for medical professionals.
- Anatomical Specimen Workshop: Anatomical specimen dummies made available for participants to practice cutting-edge techniques and skills essential for the effective treatment of scoliosis.
- Patient Engagement Day: To honour the strength and resilience of individuals facing scoliosis, the event will culminate with a special Patient Engagement Day.
Participating in the workshop are local and international doctors from Malaysia and Philippines specialising the field of Neurosurgery and Orthopaedics.
