Role of Occupational Therapists in Long COVID

Every October 27, World Occupational Therapy Day is marked around the world to promote occupational therapists and their global impacts towards improving the livelihood of patients. They are celebrated as occupational therapy has a positive influence on the health and welfare of the society.

One of the primary goals of occupational therapy is to help patients improve their fine motor skills which can help them to either attain or regain skills necessary for everyday life. Occupational therapists provide treatment to the injured or disabled patients as well as making recommendations for home modifications for the seniors or those with disabilities. They also work with children who have special needs or need help in acquiring certain skills.

This year’s theme “Belong. Be You” hoped to promote the power of diversity, equity and inclusion as we work together to build community and resilience. As a specialist centre, PJSC is working hard towards ensuring everyone regardless of their disparities receive quality treatment and specialized care. We believe that every person should have the opportunity to achieve their best health because a person’s health state can have far reaching impacts on their work, family, community and beyond. It is critical that our community attain health equity so as to achieve desired quality of life.
