World Patient Safety Day 2024: PJSC and JPMC Focus on Enhancing Diagnosis and Patient Care

Today, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) and Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) commemorated the World Patient Safety Day with a focus on improving diagnosis.

The event opened with a welcoming remark by the Head of Quality & Patient Safety, Jeffry Damit. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, in his capacity as the Chairman of PJSC and JPMC, and Executive Director of JPMC, also graced the event as the Guest of Honor. Also present were the senior management teams of PJSC and JPMC.

Together, PJSC and JPMC are committed to improving diagnosis and patient safety. Several initiatives were shared during the event including:

· Empowering Patients: Donating home testing devices, such as glucometers and blood pressure monitors, providing hands-on training and educational videos to promote self-care, and ensure sustainability for in ‘at-home’ health monitoring.
· Streamlining Communication: Implementing a new policy in line with Joint Commission International (JCI)’s International Patient Safety Goal (IPSG) for PJSC settings to ensure efficient and accurate critical result reporting.
· Elevating Standards: Appointing chapter leaders at JPMC to drive JCI accreditation efforts.
