Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) hosted a forum titled Think Pink Take Action: A Conversation On Breast Cancer on Saturday, 22nd October 2022 at the Seria Energy Lab. The forum was attended by 56 women comprising of government officers, representatives from non-government organisations (NGOs), and teachers of higher learning institutions around Belait District.
The forum saw medical experts from the Ministry of Health and The Brunei Cancer Centre share knowledge about overview of breast cancer and its psychological impacts as well as the role of The Brunei Cancer Centre in cancer care.
The event started with a talk session from Dr Hjh Amalinda Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi, Consultant in Breast Surgery, Ministry of Health, Dr Lu Shir Kiong, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Head of Medical Oncology Department in The Brunei Cancer Centre and Nor Syahmun Hj Matassan, Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Strategy Lead from Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health.
The session continued with a forum with the speakers and panelists. Among the panelists are Dr Ong Sok King, Head of Non-Communicable Diseases Unit in Ministry of Health, Dr Alfredo Villaruel, Senior Medical Officer from The Brunei Cancer Centre and Sarinah Hj Junaidi, Clinical Charge Nurse from the Early Detection And Cancer Prevention Services, The Brunei Cancer Centre.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the forum is one of the campaign activities organized under Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2022 which aims to provide the necessary knowledge and guidance and to empower women to do their part for breast cancer detection and screening.
