The Brunei Cancer Centre (TBCC) of Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) recently commemorated its first ever World Hospice & Palliative Care Day campaign at Lecture Theatre, PJSC RF Floor.
The campaign was commemorated for the first time in recent years which aims to raise awareness about the importance of palliative care in healthcare systems and society. The commemoration also serves as a day to reflect on the tremendous impact that palliative care has, not just on individuals facing lime-limiting illnesses but also for their families and loved ones.
The event was attended by 100 guests comprising of Geriatric and Palliative Unit, RIPAS Hospital, PJSC senior management team, PJSC staffs, and palliative patients’ family members and carers.
Present as the Guest of Honour during the event was Yang Mulia Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin Bin Haji Awang Besar, Executive Director of PJSC. The event started with a welcoming remark made by the Chairperson of World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2023, Dr Haji Zulkhairi Bin Haji Mohamad, Head of Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Unit.
As part of the event objective, a religious talk was held with the title of “Dealing With Grief and Loss” delivered by Ustaz Khairul Nazif Bin Haji Awang Damit. The talk aims to share tips about dealing with grief and loss after a beloved family member or friend passed away.
The event is part of TBCC Palliative Care Unit’s mission to remind that palliative care is not just a medical specialty, but it is a testament to our shared humanity and compassion.
