Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Isham Bin Hj Jaafar, the Minister of Health, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Dr Hj Zulkhairi bin Hj Mohamad, Chairperson of the World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2024 campaign, opened the event with a welcoming remark. The event was attended by the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team of PJSC, Centre Directors, PJSC staff, members of the public, as well as patients and carers from YASKA Brunei, SMARTER Brunei, and Demensia Brunei.
The event continued with the presentation of certificates to key sponsors including BIBD as the Gold Sponsor; Setia Point as the Venue Partner; Ilma Event and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf as Event Partners; Advansse Distribution, IBIC Sdn Bhd (Sehat), Taurean Bakeshop & Café, and Cataleya Trading Company as Sponsors for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2024.
Ustaz Mizi Wahid, a well-known motivational speaker from Singapore, gave a talk about the challenges of caregiving. He highlighted the mental, physical, and spiritual strain that caregivers often experience, including fatigue, burnout, and stress. Ustaz Mizi shared practical self-care tips based on Islamic values, encouraging caregivers to take care of themselves while fulfilling their roles.
The World Hospice & Palliative Care Day campaign placed a spotlight on the importance of compassion, dignity, and support, not only for patients but also for their caregivers. By acknowledging the profound role carers play, PJSC aims to cultivate an environment where carers feel appreciated, supported, and equipped with the tools to care for both themselves and their loved ones.
